Dr. Mohamed Ismail, Chairman of IWA Campus, brings over 28 years of experience in the education sector. A pioneering faculty member of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL) since its inception in 1996, he holds a Ph.D. in Finance & Credit/Economics from Kyiv National Economic University, Ukraine (1992), an M.Sc. in Finance & Credit/Economics from Donetsk National University, Ukraine (1988), and completed a Post-Doctoral Fellowship at the University of Bradford, UK (2006).
Dr. Ismail has held prominent roles, including SEUSL Chancellor (2009–2015), Vice Chancellor, Dean, and Director of the Local Technical Secretariat for the IRQUE Project. He was instrumental in expanding SEUSL’s infrastructure, academic programs, and forging partnerships with local and international universities.
An accomplished academic, Dr. Ismail has authored numerous publications, coordinated research projects, and served as a keynote speaker at global conferences. He is also an Honorary Professor at Shenyang Aerospace University, China, and a Visiting Professor at Management and Science University, Malaysia.
Beyond academia, Dr. Ismail has contributed to national development as a Member of Parliament (MP), Chairman of the Sri Lanka Handicraft Board (LAKSALA), and as a board member of multiple state and non-state organizations. His leadership has driven strategic growth, secured funding for institutional development, and fostered effective collaboration with stakeholders.
